The Red Glove Dance

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

There have been a number of great ways to raise awareness about various illnesses, but by far some of the best always end up being Youtube videos. I don’t want to say too much about this one, mostly because there just isn’t much to say. It looks like they had a great time and had a lot of time. I’m sure everyone there wishes there were more effective ways to help these women.

Many Young Americans Can Not Join the Military

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Over a quarter of the young Americans today are unable to join the military, even if they wanted to based solely on physical standards. This is not because they have asthma, flat feet, transgendered, or previous injuries. The leading cause of this, being too fat. Unfortunately, this only contributes to part of the problem. Over seventy five percent of all young Americans in the age range for joining the military can not join at all, which means that our country has a major security risk. Many top military officials are asking the American people to work on the problem now. It is a problem that not only affects our military, but every aspect of American life.

Study Shows Correlation Between Spanking and Aggression

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

A study was done at Tulane University, led by Cathreine Taylor, and observed the development of almost 2.500 kids. Through it the investigation, it accounted for many factors including, but not limited to, violence or aggressive behavior between the parents, maternal substance abuse, neglect by the parental unit, stress and depression in the mother, and even if the mother had considered aborting the kid. A recent article in KidGlue talked about the study and what they found.  According to the article, the study found that kids spanked more often at the age of three, are more aggressive at the age of five.

Hot Tubs and Health

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Home Hot Tubs and personal spas used to be considered something that was strictly in the domain of the extreme wealthy and posh. In recent years this trend has veer far from that norm and it has become very common for hot tubs to be found in homes across the nation. And this is true for many countries. In addition the types of uses and reasons for purchases has also increased in recent years. This is in part due to the increase in features and options available as well as the diversity of models and accessories.

One of the growing interests in hot tubs corresponds with an increase in health awareness and healthy lifestyle changes and adjustments. One of the greatest threats to most people is stress and it is well researched and supported that stress in one of the main causes of heart disease and other health related issues. And in today’s increasingly competitive professional world, avoiding stress is as easy as avoiding traffic. Hot tubs are an excellent source of stress relief and many people purchase them for this reason alone. It is a great way to calm down and refresh yourself after a chaotic day at work and it is also a nice introduction to what will become a busy stressful day. Aromatherapy scents are a common and easily accessible hot tub accessory and greatly enhance the relaxing effects of a hot tub session. Choosehottubsdirect.com is an excellent resource for this and other accessories.

In addition, hydrotherapy techniques are used for increasing numbers of ailments and supplementing a therapeutic medical ritual with a home hot tub is an excellent option. It is highly recommended that before transferring a hydrotherapy exercise to one’s own home and self supervision, the needs and circumstances are discussed with a health care professional. At no time is recommended that purchasing a hot tub will replace professional medical care and doctors should always be consulted before making a major health care change. However, it cannot be emphasized enough that stress and worry is extremely destructive to your health and any steps, particularly the benefits and pleasure of a hot tub, you can take to reduce stress are good.

The benefits of hot tubs spas

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I have been reading up on the benefits of hot tubs spas. There is a lot of mounting information available as to the benefits of what they call hydrotherapy, soaking in hot water. The body is very receptive to this hydrotherapy. The hot water is very relaxing and comforting to the body and mind, The swirling jet action of the hot water relieves tension and aching muscles from over work, working out or general daily stress. The heat causes the body’s blood vessels to dilate and therefore increase circulation and blood flow opening the body to natural healing and energy flows. Stress reduction alone will help the body tremendously and the use of a hot tub or spa, coupling the heat and messaging effects of the water together make for a perfect combination for relaxation and body health improvement.

I began to look into getting a hot tub and found there are a lot of choices and prices to choose from. Small single and double tubs are available ready made and you can go up to a tub of any size and shape with a custom one and enough money to afford it.

In my situation I am looking at something on the smaller side. With limited space for it I am looking to put in a tub not larger than about three to four hundred gallons. There is an electrical hook up on my back patio that will accommodate the hot tub but I will need to get the plumbing put in for one. This is scheduled for early next week. Once that is in I hope to have the tub delivered within a month and up and running just in time to take advantage of hot water soaking as the winter arrives.

A non-Sprained Ankle in Sydney

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

While I was in Sydney taking a tour of all the usual sites on a tour bus, I was sitting next to a woman who was a Naturopath. I didn’t know what that was, and I didn’t what to seem stupid, so I kept to myself as best I could. But, later on in the tour, when we were on a lunch break, as I stepped off the bus, I sprained my ankle. She immediately, came to my aid and took me to sit down on a near-by city bench. She then applied pressure on my ankle with both her hands and closed her eyes and told me to focus and visualized a clear light surrounding my injured ankle and visualize a healing taking place. She assured me there’s no wrong way to visualize this and to start immediately.

I was really wanting to go to a hospital, is what I was thinking, but her kindness at wanting to help stopped me from saying anything, so I just decided to do as she instructed, right there on a city bench in Sydney, Australia. A stranger in a strange land, getting some kind of energy medicine applied to my sprained ankle by a complete stranger. I noticed right away, when she laid hands on my ankle that the pain was becoming less severe. She kept pressure on my ankle and her breathing was unusual. Like she was in a trance. I did as she requested, that I visualize a clear light surrounding my ankle and envisioning that my ankle was healed. I didn’t know what that looked like, so I imagined how my other ankle was not injured and so I imagined that my sprained ankle was the same as my non-sprained ankle. We did this for what seemed like an hour or more, but when she took her hands off my ankle and told me to open my eyes, only minutes had passed.

I looked down on my ankle and I could no longer feel the pain of the sprain. There was no bruising or swelling. She told me to move my ankle around to see if I feel full range of use. I could, I could move my ankle all around and then she told me to stand on it. I was reluctant, but, I mean, really, the pain went away, so why not see if I could stand on it. I could! I couldn’t put all my wait on it, but I could finish out the tour, pain-free and get back to one of the luxury hotels Sydney where I was staying. I thanked her for her kindness, and she said with a smile, now you know what a Naturopath is, so don’t hesitate to find one back in the States.

The Psilocybin Mushrooms in its Role as a Gateway Drug

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Typically termed as a gateway drug into other more serious drugs, such as heroin, cocaine, PCP, LCD, and others, psilocybin mushrooms are used for its effects as a hallucinogen.  Drug rehab centers often provide information about this kind of drug as a result of its reputation.  Among these effects is a changed perception in reality (otherwise known as tripping), relaxation, distortions in what the person is seeing, and a detachment from their physical body.  Other experiences are color and light collections vivid in color and form and fantastic and strange visions.

As far as symptoms go, there might be shivering, numbed tongue, perception alteration of time, sweating, a light head, and in more extreme cases anxiety.  Because it acts as a hallucinogenic, law enforcement often blame it for leading people to other hallucinogenic like PCP and LSD.  A residential drug  treatment center will usually have more information about why some people consider it a dangerous drug in its capacity to lead to other more serious drugs.

Other reasons for avoiding the psilocybin mushrooms include what kind of form is taken, from the dried and wild varieties.  Detrimental health problems can occur with the wrong type taken.  Additionally, there are certain kinds of fungi that look similar to the psilocybin mushrooms.  While causing the hallucinations associated with tripping, it can also in the most extreme cases cause death.

Because taking LSD and the psilocybin mushroom cause reactions that alike, this is another reason for its reputation as a gateway drug.  LSD does gives its users a longer and more prolonged experience due to the chemicals used in making the drug.  These synthetic chemicals are the reason LSD is considered a dangerous drug for people in the medical community.  PCP and strychnine, a substance which is poisonous, are often found mixed into a batch of LSD.  And while PCP also has a similar role to LSD and the psilocybin mushroom, it has far more dangerous effects on its uses than either of the two other drugs.

You asked whether or not Psilocybin mushrooms could be laced with LSD. LSD is most commonly used in one of two forms. It is either absorbed in its liquid form onto a piece of paper (a blotter), and chewed or taken as a pill. It may be possible to soak Psilocybin mushrooms in this liquid, or mix LSD with Psilocybin in its powdered form.

More information about the psilocybin mushroom can be found at centers for treatment for drug addiction.  There is also much literature available at local libraries about the connection between the mushroom and other drugs with hallucinogenic properties.

Telephone Pyaar: Community Art in Delhi

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

When traveling in Delhi, best hotels are often difficult to find, because of the choices of accommodation.  Our hotels offer something for the discerning traveler looking for a distinctive and unique lodging.  They are all extremely varied in architecture and design, and each have their own individual feel, catering to the individual looking for a hotel with a personal touch.  There are still the same exacting standards that apply to other hotels, such as excellent fine dining, exercise rooms, and splendid concierge service, so that every need is met and even exceeded.  There are plenty of activities here to keep the whole family entertained, such as swimming pools, lounges, and excellent in-room entertainments.  It is highly recommended, however, that you spend time exploring the amazing city.

Delhi is a fascinating place, where many of India’s diverse cultures meet and comprise one of the world’s thriving metropolitan areas.  The energy here is infectious, and often overwhelming, and attracts artists and scientists from all over.  The energy is evident in the art, and one of the city’s more motivated groups, Khoj: International Artists’ Association, has some very interesting projects.  Khoj is an artist-run organization dedicated to developing international networks and simultaneously promoting experimentation among artists and groups within India.  Their way of working is very cutting-edge, employing grass-roots methods with sophisticated uses of virtual media.  They are also committed to promoting community based arts, and one of their projects is Telephone Pyaar.

Conceived by Abinhandita Mathur and performed with seven young people, Telephone Pyaar is a project investigating the theme of love.    Looking at popular film, reading texts, and listening to songs about the theme of love, the young people are asked to explore all the issues and conflicts that come up.  The focus becomes extremely local, revealing complicated ideas that are specific to time and place.  These ideas are then transfered to fictional phone conversations and recorded, in order to reveal and document a modern Delhi.

Wessex Dragon

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Wessex, England is an historic region in the southwest section of the country. It has played a prominent role in the evolution of the English society, dynasty kingdoms and the country itself. It is represented by the symbolic association to the dragon, which dates from the early first century AD. This is first mentioned in stories told by Mathew of Westminster, though he is now believed to by a mythological figure, and Henry of Huntingdon, an English historian from the mid 12th century. Mathew was originally believed to have been the writer of the Fores Historiarum, which contains the mention of the dragon, though this was discovered to be a mistake and although the account exists in the book, there is no indication that Mathew of Westminster ever existed. These early accounts refer to a golden dragon that was raised by the West Saxons in 752 AD at the Battle of Burford. Tourists who visit the region and stay in a Wessex hotel are more than likely to encounter a representation of the dragon during their vacation.

The dragon is seen in the Bayeux Tapestry and is depicted as a fallen golden dragon, although this may not refer directly to Wessex as the dragon imagery was in common use at the time. There is also a panel in the stained glass at Exeter Cathedral that displays the dragon in Wessex and indicates an association to it that predates the Victorian period. The association become extremely popularized in the 19th century, due largely to the writings of E. A. Freeman. The dragon is also found on the Wessex Society flag. The flag is a simple depiction of a golden dragon in front of a red backdrop. The flag was designed by William Crampton. Regardless of the origins or extent of its use, the dragon is a popular symbol of Wessex and the region today.

Cost of rehab

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

If there is someone in your life who has an addiction, it can be a difficult decision to decide where they should get help. An addiction treatment center can be a costly drain on an addict’s family.  According to the National Substance Abuse Treatment Services Survey, drug rehabilitation can cost around $7,000 a month.

And since addicts who stay in treatment longer have better success in staying sober, rehab can easily cost upwards of $10,000 to even $40,000, depending on the type of program and where it is located.

This financial burden is rarely picked up by the addict themselves. Most do not have the ability to pay for their treatment, so the family becomes the people who pick up the tab. Although, they might have been already supporting the addict if they are deep into addiction and unable to work and function. The hope is that the addict will become well again and be able to pay off their drug rehab.

Some drug rehabs and dual diagnosis treatment is publicly funded, but few are. Some people think that they can rely on their health insurance to pay for rehab. But most of the time this is not the case. Insurance companies will do what they can to pay for as little of the treatment as possible.  This is not usually an upfront payment either; insurance companies usually will reimburse a patient after they have paid for the rehabilitation out of their own pocket.

Another misconception about drug rehab is that you get what you pay for.  In most cases, that can be true, but there are treatment centers that cater to celebrities that can cost over $100,000 for a stay and the celebrity still ends up relapsing.  So if you are looking for rehab for yourself or a loved one, take into consideration what will work best for both of you.

What happens after gastric bypass surgery

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Gastric bypass surgery has quickly become one of the most common types of weight loss surgery in the United States.

The gastric bypass surgery creates a small pouch at the top of your stomach. The pouch, about the size of a walnut form there on after the surgery can only hold about an ounce of food.

The patient loses weight after having gastric bypass surgery because food that enters the new smaller stomach can basically bypass it, hence the name of the surgery and goes straight to the small intestine. By doing this, the body can absorb fewer calories and then the patient can lose weight.

After gastric bypass surgery the patient can expect to have to drastically change their eating habits. For the first three days after the surgery, the patient will not be able to eat. After that, your diet will follow a pattern for the next 12 weeks.

The patient starts with an all liquid diet, next is soft foods and then after that is regular foods.  For six months after the surgery the patient has to be careful not to eat too much or too fast because it could make them sick. The surgery may also result in having body aches, feeling cold or tired, dry skin, mood changes and hair loss or thinning.

The surgery should eventually reduce your weight by about fifty percent.

The cost of gastric bypass surgery can be quite staggering in the United States. Many are now turning to medical tourism based surgery for their weight loss surgery needs.

Gastric bypass abroad
based surgery can be significantly less expensive than having the surgery in the United States. Lap band surgery in Mexico , can be about half that of the cost in the United States.   Medical tourism in now considered a national industry in many countries and a viable option to having the surgery elsewhere. Gastric bypass is a surgery for highly specialized surgeon regardless of where it is performed, be prepared to deal with the effort needed for success afterwards.

Hot Tubs and the Reduction of Fibromyalgia Pain

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Fibromyalgia is a debilitating problem for many people.  Those in pain, inadvertently clench their muscles in response to the pain, which only serves to lead to more pain.  It is a vicious cycle.  Blood flow to the areas most in need is cut off, and the tension just starts all over again.  For those with fibromyalgia, the lifestyle today, of working like crazy then coming home to relax on the couch is doubly bad, as blood flow to the organs and to the muscles is severely affected by too little exercise.  All this leads to the pain increasing over time.

One thing is certain, that exercise will serve to ease the pain, it’s just that getting over the pain in order to physically move, to run or bike, can be a tough hurdle.  The increase in ones pulse rate is key to solving the issues and to the removal of the negative effects of the disease.  Just a few minutes a day, walking or stretching will do wonders, and one way to ease the tension in order to be able to perform any sort of exercise is to soak for a few minutes in a hot tub, as in the models found at choosehottubsdirect.com.  These spas and hot tubs come in a wide variety, at very affordable prices, and could be the beginning step towards a journey of pain-free living.

As one soaks in hot water, the blood flow increases and the muscles begin to loosen up on their own.  Afterward, it is much easier to stretch out muscles that are already warmed up.  Once the body is loosened, walking or biking is much easier and much less painful of an activity.  Another way that water is helpful with those so inflicted, is through the regular practice of water aerobics.  The impact of such exercise is greatly reduced by the effect of buoyancy the water creates.

Stress on the body, especially on the joints is alleviated, but still provides the benefits of a work out that will increase the pulse and so increase the flow of blood to the essential parts of the body.  And then of course, once the work out is finished, it is back to the hot tub for another quick soak.  This is just one of the many ways to alleviate the physical discomfort of fibromyalgia, and to move towards the healing process and towards a life that is finally pain-free.

New Documentary Airs Steve-O’s Drug Abuse and Recovery

Friday, June 19th, 2009

MTV continues to experiment and break the mold in documentary filmmaking with the release of “Steve-O: Demise and Rise,” a self-documented look inside the mind of a man struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. This explosive special gives a raw, intimate first-hand account of Steve-O’s downward spiral to when he ultimately hits rock bottom and is saved by the intervention of friends and his own will to do whatever it takes to get – and stay – sober.

Steve-O, a self-professed ham in front of the video camera, never leaves home without it. Since his early teens, Steve-O has captured moments of his life on tape, including everything from his days as an amateur stuntman and flea-market clown to his rise to fame as popular member of “Jackass” and “Wildboyz.”

Consequently, the darkest hours of Steve-O’s life are also captured. Viewers will see moments of extreme substance abuse, including the marathon nitrous oxide sessions, terrorizing his next door neighbor, his ill-fated attempt at being a gangsta-rapper and several infamous public displays of self-destructive behavior. All of Steve-O’s antics lead to his friends stepping in, turning off the camera and forcibly admitting him to the medical center where he was forced to begin the process of learning to live sober.

Since his intervention, it hasn’t been without hurdles that Steve-O has tried to stay clean, sober and focused on making amends to those closest to him hurt by his addiction-his family and friends. Steve-O’s journey has taken him through highs and lows, and this documentary follows them all, right up until his first performance this year on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars.” Now faced with the daily challenge of living a clean life while still being the Steve-O that everyone loves, he wants it to be known that he is not the poster child for drug addiction or recovery but wants to show how truly difficult it is to stay sober every day.

The documentary is a good example that a celebrity’s story can lead many teenagers and young adults to seek treatment for addictions either through drug rehab or drug rehab programs.

Drug treatment is an important first step on the path to sobriety.

Surfing Off the Cape, South Africa

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Many surfers have commented throughout the years, that the Peninsula of Cape Town has some of the best surf beaches.  That in the waters of the Atlantic off the coast, the waves are always easy to find.  There are so many fine surfing spots, that it does matter the direction the wind may be blowing, somewhere it will be blowing in the right direction off the shore.  Many of the best Capetown restaurants are located along the surf beaches, and there is nothing better than some nice food and relaxation after a day on the waves.  In these well known surf spots though, as in any surf towns be it Bondi Beach in Australia or Malibu Beach in California, USA, local surf spots mean that one must show respect and gain respect of the local surfers.  And as far as shark attacks go, this has not been a factor off the Peninsula.  There have been reports of great whites, but at this time, there have been no attacks.

That being said, the best spots for surfing are all located to the north and to the south of the city.  There are a few spots located in the area of Muizenberg.  The best spots to the north are Table View, Blouberg, and Big Bay.  Derde Steen is a spot however, the waves do come in very big and are more suited for beginners.  Blouberg is really the hot spot, if Blouberg is crowed then Table View is the next best place.  Most all of the spots at Blouberg are surf-able, but wet suits are necessary as the temperature of the water is fairly cold year round.  The waves here tend to be much more intense than they look, breaking often times close to the shore.  Big Bay, just next door is one of the best spots, always with big waves and relatively mild water temperatures.  Surfing in South Africa will provide one with a love of the sport, many memories and just incredible amounts of good times.

Dubai Marina and Deira Clocktower

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Dubai is a vibrant city and full of cultural landmarks and historic buildings. There is a thriving arts scene and a progressive cosmopolitan feel to this major UAE city. Visiting the city as a tourist can be an extremely enlightening and exciting event as the food, entertainment, and general scenic views are unique and inviting to Westerners. Two the major landmarks that most tourists will not want to miss are the Dubai Marina and also the Deira Clocktower. Guests staying in five star hotels in Dubai should have no difficulty in finding information on these and other major landmarks of the city.

The Deira Clocktower is also commonly referred to as the Dubai Clocktower. It is a roundabout located in the Al Rigga area of Deira at the intersection of Umm Hurair Road and Route D 89. It is the major landmark of Deira and also provides access to the Al Maktoum Bridge, which was the first land crossing to be constructed between Bur Dubai and Deira. The Clocktower was built in 1964 and throughout the years suffered from corrosion and the steal reinforcements began to crack and deteriorate. It was refurbished in 1972 and stands a major landmark of Dubai.

The Dubai Marina is a residential district and is commonly considered to be the heart of the new Dubai. It was designed and developed to be a model of the Concord Pacific Place along False Creek in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It has been developed by the UAE real estate firm Emaar Properties and is entirely man made. When completed, the marina will include some 200 high rise buildings and sky scrapers. Among them are the Infinity Tower, The Princess Tower, Marina Terrace, and the Torch Dubai Marina. Also included are the residential towers. When it is completed, it will be the largest man made marina in the world. Marina del Ray in California, USA is currently the largest man made marina.

The Nature of Addiction is Two-Fold

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Drug Rehab addresses the two-fold nature of drug addiction. The two-fold nature is physical dependency and psychological dependency.

Physical Dependency:  This involves a detox process to cope with withdrawal symptoms from regular use of the drug. With regular use of drugs, the brain gradually adapts to the prescence of the drug and then overtime will require more of the drug for the desired effect. The body builds up a tolerance for the drug and increased dosages will be required to get the desired “high” that was once attained at a lower dose.  This is the reason why the drug will eventually become a full blown addiction, when usually use follows a slow pattern from occasional social use to requiring daily doses.

At that point to stop taking a drug or to try and quit the drug can lead to withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal.

Psychological Dependency:  Psychological dependency is addressed in many drug rehab programs by attempting to teach the patient new methods of interacting in a drug-free environment. In particular, patients are generally encouraged or required not to associate with friends who still use the addictive substances. Usually these programs encourage addicts not only to stop using alcohol or other drugs, but to examine and change habits related to their addictions.

Many programs emphasize recovery is a permanent process or as a new lifestyle. For legal drugs such as alcohol, complete abstention—rather than attempts at moderation, which may lead to relapse—is also emphasized (“One drink is too many; one hundred drinks is not enough.”)

It’s important that a alcohol and drug rehab treatment concentrate on both sides to the same coin of addiction; physical and psychological effects of their dependency.

Alternative Choices: Surgery in Mexico

Monday, May 18th, 2009

No longer do North Americans feel worried about subjecting themselves to surgeries in countries other their own.  The reputation that many foreign hospitals and doctors are meriting are as good as those in the United States, with many surgeons receiving their post graduate degrees in such hospitals as Harvard Med and the like.  With their attention to detail, their personalized staff, and their cutting edge equipment, Mexican hospitals are attracting more and more patients-to-be.  Not only will you receive excellent care, but you will also be able to enjoy incredible savings.

The cost of knee surgery abroad (http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEnotes/node/295) , for example, can be up to 60% less than in the States.  Shoulder surgery costs are also low, as are most surgical procedures such as cosmetic, lap band, heart, and more.  With Medical Tourism on the rise as a multi-million dollar business, people are turning to these agencies to arrange the best care in not only Mexico, but in India, Thailand, Hungary, Costa Rica, Argentina, and elsewhere.  Combining a surgery with a vacation is another way that people are taking advantage of the low costs.  Why not take advantage of being in another country if you are having a surgery there?  With so many beautiful places to visit, this has become a popular choice.

Surgery Abroad

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Medical Tourism is one of the best ways to beat the high costs of surgery today.  This growing industry has attracted millions of people who are looking to reduce their surgical costs while at the same time never compromising quality and expertise.  Going abroad to obtain cheap shoulder surgery, cosmetic surgery, gastric bypass, and the like is no longer risky or questionable.

Some of the best surgeons in the world are practicing in countries such as Mexico, India, Thailand, Hungary, and elsewhere.  Hospitals in these countries are up to the highest standards, with state-of-the-art techniques along with personalized care.

Staff members generally speak fluent English in the major hospitals, and often you are allowed a loved one in the room with you to ease your time in hospital.  With incredible savings, sometimes up to 60%, patients find that spending extra time in the country after, for example, affordable knee surgery, offers its benefits.

A post-op vacation becomes very desirable if you have saved a large chunk of money on your procedure.  Why travel all that way without seeing some of what the country

Cheap Shoulder Surgery

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

As the most flexible joint in the body, the shoulder undergoes an enormous amount of motion all the time.  Composed of a ball and socket joint, the area is susceptible to injury through wear and tear of the cartilage.  Additionally, the muscles and tendons that attach the upper arm to the shoulder and stabilize the area can also be damaged due to overuse, especially through sports-related activities.  This is called the rotator cuff, responsible for holding the entire area in place. When not properly attended to, the area becomes increasingly difficult to treat as the surface of the bone wears down, and shoulder surgery may be needed.

Many people suffering from shoulder injuries opt for shoulder replacement procedures or shoulder resurfacing.  As health care costs are so expensive, many turn to surgeons abroad where shoulder surgery costs are up to 60% less, with the same high quality as procedures done in the United States.  As such, Mexico has become one of the most sought after destinations for medical tourism as patients discover expert doctors along with cutting edge diagnostics and procedures.  Often trained in the United States or Europe, Mexican physicians are an excellent choice when entrusting your precious body to health care professionals.

When other therapies are no longer effective and surgery becomes the option, having the procedure done in a Mexican hospital provides not only excellent care, but attention to your pocket book.

Singapore best spas offer services that include massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture and detoxification. Sometimes necessary after a night out on the town. Many spas are in garden settings, which serve a few purposes. For not only are these setting instrumental in the entire experience many of the ingredients used for aromatherapy and the detox face and body masks are taken straight from these gardens. Most of the spas combine the various treatments, or exercise such as Pilates or yoga, with the natural world. So all in all, whether it be day or night, there is a variety of ways to relieve stress and unwind for the citizens of the city, and for the tourists visiting for just that reason.

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

The city of Newcastle is located in northeastern England.  It lies on the north bank of the River Tyne.  Its sister city of Gateshead lies on the south bank of the Tyne.

Newcastle is heavily influenced by the past.  It was a center for industry – coal, steel and shipbuilding.   These have died out over the past decades and the city has developed in to a modern service oriented center.   The attraction for visitors is the mix of the modern and the historical.

Newcastle is famous for its outstanding shopping and excellent nightlife. It also has modern healthcare facilities including the Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle General Hospital, Newcastle cosmetic surgery, and Freeman Hospital.  The city also offers much in the way of beautiful architecture, an ancient castle; and a unique quayside with waterfront bars and galleries.  It also has a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafés.

The city has many festivals and events throughout the year and so check what is happening before you head on your trip.  Newcastle makes an excellent base for exploring Northumbria, and makes a nice stop off point on journeys from the south to Scotland.

Permanent Make-Up is Wise Investment

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

One of the wisest investments that I have ever made was getting permanent make-up. I have more than paid myself back for the money spent on getting it and I could never pay myself for the time saved.

My permanent makeup cosmetics looks great all day and night long. I can sleep, perspire, anything and I look great. I just add some powder if I look shiny and sometimes I wear chapstick.

The permanent make up equipment that is available nowadays makes it easy to get and the technicians are highly trained. But remember, only go to technicians that are certified with the state.

Drug Rehab for Meth Addiction

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Their is an epidemic in this country with methamphetamine. This drug is so very addicting that many times one use is all that it takes to get hooked. It is almost impossible to quit without help. Drug rehab is the only viable solution for those that have fallen victim to this ruthless stimulant.

The reason that meth is so addictive is because it makes the brain produce a very large amount of dopamine. Dopamine is produced when we do something we like, therefore it makes us feel pleasure and we want to do whatever it was that produced this feeling again. It is produced from eating, to help ensure that we eat, for example.

This type of high is destructive and getting help and going to a drug rehab will help anyone that is addicted learn how to cope without it. The battle for a sober life is challenging but it can be done.

NIDA-Sponsored Study May Help Drug Rehabilitation

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

A new study that was sponsored by NIDA, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, found that even unconscious images of drugs can trigger cravings in some individuals. This might turn out to be a groundbreaking discovery for drug rehab facility.

Patients that were addicted to drugs, such as cocaine, were shown an image of cocaine or the like for 33 milliseconds. This time is not long enough for the patients to be aware that they saw an image. And their Limbic systems became stimulated. This is the reward system that helps you to feel pleasure. The same people that had the most activity also had a strong response when they saw images that they were conscious of.

What does this mean for drug rehabilitation? It means that if they are aware that images that a person does not even know he or she sees triggers cravings, they can help prepare the addict better for life outside of treatment.

Drug abuse rehabilitation needs to be able to have the greatest amount of knowledge about addiction so they can help prepare their patients.

Daughter Inspired by Next Day Blinds

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

My mother is getting older and I try to make her life as easy as possible. One of the things that I have done for her is to make things that hurt the arthritis in her hands easier for her to maneuver.

I got her motorized window blinds from Next Day Blinds. This seems to help her because she no longer has to grip the string on her vertical blinds, squeeze and pull. This task sounds easy but for someone with this painful affliction, it can be very painful.

I also did some interior decorating on the rest of her house all the while making it safer for her. I put area rugs down throughout the house and I made sure that they won’t slip.

I got some of my decorating ideas when I spoke with the people from Next Day Blinds. For the bedroom interior design I got new window treatments that compliment her bedspread.

I think that overall these small changes will make her life easier and her house prettier.
