Wowed in Shanghai

Friday, May 14th, 2010

At first in visiting the World Expo there are not actually all that many things to wow over. Certainly there is no new invention to match the first television or something like that. There is however a number of great things to see and do while you are there, so if you are planning on going, you won’t be unhappy about it. The buildings for one are amazing, and many of the countries have done some imaginative and fascinating things in the world of Architecture. If you aren’t sure which of the exhibits you want to go to first though, you are going to want to check out an article on what is there.

Pittsburgh has a Love Hate with Ben Roethlisberger

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Ben Roethlisberger is the talk of the town right now in Pittsburgh, but not everyone is in love with him. He is getting a lot of publicity, ending up on South Park, in rap songs, and even has stores opening up in his honor, but certainly not for the right reasons. His deviant behavior lately is actually the cause of all the sensation. It brings in revenue however and as Pittsburgh being his home town it is no wonder that this is where a lot of the commotion is happening.

Rights Groups Are Challenging Controversial Arizona Law

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

The recent law that has many Americans up in arms on one side of it or another will be coming under attack by a number of rights groups who feel that the law supports racial profiling. They will be challenging it on a legal level, hoping to be able to get it overturned. Those who are for it, don’t believe that it does support racial profiling, but do feel that it will protect us, and that is what is important.

There are 3 Airfields in New York City

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

If you think the only airfields in New York City in JFK and LaGuardia, you’d be wrong. Floyd Bennett Field , which still operates today, was New York City’s first municipal airport, located on Barren Island , which later became connected to Brooklyn via a landfill. The airport was completed in 1930 and had only 2 perpendicular runways. In its day, the airfield was an model for innovations such as offering passengers underground tunnels so they could comfortably walk from the terminal building to their airplane without being bothered by adverse weather conditions; a passenger lounge, a pilot’s lounge, a barber shop, a restaurant and a weather room were all a part of the, at that time, a very modern terminal.

You can still visit the Floyd Bennett Airfield, which is still active; at least once a week, cargo aircraft take off rising above the weeds and nearby swamplands. You’ll be able to see the spot where Howard Hughes took off and landed after completing his record breaking 3-day flight around the world. You’ll also get to see photos of ‘Wrong Way’ Corrigan, who got his name when his request to take off from Floyd Bennett to fly to Ireland was denied because the Civil Aviation Authority deemed his Curtiss-Robin single engine plane ‘not airworthy’. Later, Corrigan took off for his home back in California, but instead landed in Dublin, claiming that his compass must have been faulty causing him to fly in the wrong direction. ‘Wrong Way’ Corrigan received public acclaim upon his return to the United States.

Besides seeing photos of Howard Hughes historic flight and of ‘Wrong Way’ Corrigans and his single engine Curtiss-Robin, you’ll also get to see photos of Wiley Post, Amelia Earhart and a host of other aviation’s pioneers. When you’re in New York City, and your sitting in your hotel room wondering what unusual things there are to do in New York City, consider paying a visit to the now National Historic site and revisit the airfield that made history.

Study Shows Correlation Between Spanking and Aggression

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

A study was done at Tulane University, led by Cathreine Taylor, and observed the development of almost 2.500 kids. Through it the investigation, it accounted for many factors including, but not limited to, violence or aggressive behavior between the parents, maternal substance abuse, neglect by the parental unit, stress and depression in the mother, and even if the mother had considered aborting the kid. A recent article in KidGlue talked about the study and what they found.  According to the article, the study found that kids spanked more often at the age of three, are more aggressive at the age of five.

Offshore Drilling: What People Think

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

I found this video that has opinions on either side of the issue. Obama is talking about new offshore drilling sites. They cut people off sometimes, but overall there is at least a few different ways to view this. Here is the video.

The Logistics of Being a Great Property Manager

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Moving across town is stressful.  Moving to a new city is stressful.  Choosing to move to a new country may seem overwhelming, but if you are going to Canada you will be in good hands with the TransGlobe Property Management team.  The daily life in Canada is relaxed, and multi-cultural, artistic and out-doorsy, so this is home to a broad spectrum of personalities, a characteristic that suits TransGlobe just fine.  With their years of experience and knowledge of the real estate market, they will find you exactly what you need, whether you are looking to rent a space to live in, or are in need of work and studio space.

They are able to anticipate the needs and the wants of their tenants, without shifting from their responsibilities they have towards the owners of the buildings they manage.  This is one of their greatest assets, and one reason why working with them is not only easy, but rewarding as well.  They are in communication with both, the tenants and the owners, 24/7 and are always there when you need them.  Whether they are in charge of providing supplies, of fixing broken boilers or water heaters, or taking care of the financial needs, they are one of the top management companies in the country.

They care for the buildings they manage, and it shows, in the grounds surrounding the buildings and in the buildings themselves.  They look towards the future, while staying in the present and attending to the daily needs as they come about.  This makes life easier for everyone.  The team at TransGlobe Property Management cares for the individual, and this is not common in the world of business and commerce today.  They act immediately and efficiently when they are called to do so, and they create a feeling of a true community within their properties.  So have no fear when choosing to move, although it may seem stressful, the people at TransGlobe will take that stress away, and ensure that all of your needs are taken care of.
