Making Table Tents the Spice of Information

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Like a chef with their ingredients, there are many tools for any restaurant owner that can make their business run smoothly. It’s always a question of utility, purpose, and the thing that unifies these things together, a touch of beauty. All chefs have their favorite spices , the ones that they know will bring all the flavors together, so they can speak to the tongue. Usually these are little extra touches which might not even register consciously on the palate. They do make a significant difference, however, and can separate an ordinary meal from a memorable event.

The same goes for the tools that the owner has at their disposal. The menu is the set centerpiece, where the most vital and essential information is conveyed. The menu may change over time, but these changes will reflect a change in the direction of the establishment in most cases. Table tents are an effective means of distributing knowledge of the items that are changing, or on special. They can also remind the guests about desserts and drinks, or any number of other things. These are for items that are generally less permanent than what’s on the menu. A specials board is the final touch, representing the items that are most fleeting, and can draw the guests attention to what’s available for one particular day.

Careful use of these items is very much like a chef with ingredients. Used with care and attention, they can make subtle differences to the entire dining experience, and let the customers know they’re in a unique place.

Google Deletes Data At Request of Ireland

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Google accidentally picked up a large amount of personal data while taking pictures in Ireland for Google Street View a service that they provide in some locations in their maps and directions. This data was accidentally collected off of unprotected and unencrypted wireless networks in the areas around which they drove taking the pictures. They have offered to delete all of the data that was collected and have reached out to other countries besides Ireland to inform them of what has happened and ask them what they would like to do with it now that it has been collected. There is talk that some governments may ask to see what type of data had been collected, but for the most part it is assumed that all the data will be deleted as quickly as possible.

Android Outsells Apple

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Android smart phones have outsold their Apple counterparts this first quarter. In this market it might be hard for some people to believe that Blackberries are still the top of the line best sellers, but people like to go with what they know. However, the big competition is really at the bottom of the list right now. Android does not currently have the largest market share, but they do have the best seller of the quarter between the two competing companies. Part of this can be attributed to Job’s refusal to let Apple mobile products run flash, as well as Android having a great interface and Verizon having a very intense marketing scheme.

Q&A on Twitter Ads

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Twitter will now have paid tweets appear higher up in search results. Although we may not see them at first because the start of the project is aimed at less than 10% of their users, and you may not see them at all unless you do a search, or someone you follow if the advertiser, or retweets it. It will look in all ways like a normal tweet for now. All the same, some users are in a tizzy, so here is a nice Q&A I found useful.

Offshore Drilling: What People Think

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

I found this video that has opinions on either side of the issue. Obama is talking about new offshore drilling sites. They cut people off sometimes, but overall there is at least a few different ways to view this. Here is the video.

Preparing for the Future

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Uncertainty is something that it seems like we are all living with these days. Some of us are uncertain about our jobs, some are uncertain about making ends meet, and some even think the world is going to end. Despite all of the negative news reports and attitudes around us, it is time that we stepped up. What better time than right now to begin preparing for the future.
Jobs are something that we are often not truly grateful for until they are gone. It is easy to get caught up in the mundane daily tasks and not really appreciate our jobs until we no longer have them. And then we are left wondering how we will ever get by. Whether you have a job or are currently looking for one, there is no time like the present to increase your value . One way to do this is through education. Going back to school and earning or finishing a degree is an option that some people choose when they face unemployment. If you don’t have the time or the money to go back to school that doesn’t mean you can’t take some classes and increase your training. Universities and community colleges often offer single courses in business training . They typically cost quite a bit less and are usually offered one or two days a week. Some companies even offer corporate team building programs that can help you move within the company.
The key to planning for the future is taking advantage of every opportunity. Even if you are in a tight spot right now, the time to plan is now. Use this time to your advantage. Do whatever you can to increase your value as an employee so that when that great new job opportunity comes along you’ll be ready for it.

TransGlobe and the Age of Connection

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

It’s a very exciting time to be moving to a new neighborhood.  Change is stressful, of course, but it’s also a very healthy thing, and a new place to live or work, or both, can offer a new beginning, or a chance to freshen up your surroundings and refresh your own sense of place.  There are always many details to keep track of when you’re moving, but in the internet age, it’s never been easier to keep up with all the important tasks, and some of these are much easier now.  We live in interesting times, where we spend a good part of our days living in virtual realms, and part of them are in the physical world.  It’s a good idea to have some sense of balance between each world, and the process of moving has entered partway into the virtual world as well.

TransGlobe Property Management has a great online presence, and their database makes it easy, and even fun, to find the perfect place in the perfect neighborhood.  They have thousands of properties all over Canada, and you can do a very large part of your research online, without leaving home or even having to pick up a phone.  And when you have questions, and it comes time to start hammering out the details to make them solid plans, their friendly and knowledgeable team is there to help, to make the experience personal and unique.  They’re also there for you for as long as you’re a tenant.

It’s this ability to blend between the virtual and the actual that makes TransGlobe Property Management such a wonderful company to work with.  There are plenty of other virtual possibilities now that can help to make the stress of moving much less, so that you can focus on the important details.  Changing location is never easy, but we now have the ability to move ourselves virtually from one email account to another, and can announce our big life changes on social networking sites.  Even though we may be moving more often than previous generations did, we’ve also never been more connected to the world than we are today.

Cross cultural training in business

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Since the widening business community grows more and more global with each passing day, cross cultural knowledge is needed more and more too. Everything from leadership training  to etiquette training is being influenced a bit cross cultural knowledge.   The main thing people must understanding about cross cultural training of any kind is that is about communicating effectively.  And not just by words.  The way you dress, your manners, you actions all communicate very specific things, and if you are unaware of your behavior it can place business deals in grave danger.  Small talk in France is frowned upon before a big time negotiation and a Japanese business man will take great offense at you removing your suit jacket just before a meeting.

While there is no way to know every single cultural rule of every single culture, there is a way of learning how to pick up on these small little rules that can actually make a big difference in your business dealings with foreign clients.  One way is to simply wait and watch to see how other people behave.   Having a cultural expert or translator though nice, is not always available to people, especially if the company is not a huge corporation with seemingly endless resources.  but there are still ways of improving your cross cultural communication.

There are many people from the United States who neglect cultural awareness of other companies.  Though they may be the best of their company at home, minor mistakes can wreak the biggest havoc on a business.  Because we are a cultural that values time so importantly, the rushing way of doing things that we take for granted is not often appreciated in other cultures.  It makes business people from the United States look insensitive to interpersonal relationships.  Figuring out how to ask the right questions about a culture the right way can make a huge difference in business transactions.   Much practice is of course needed to make cross cultural communication a well-honed skill, but it is well worth the investment to spend any money possible on improving such a skill.  Sales training alone cannot always win a deal anymore.

Good Versus Great

Monday, August 24th, 2009

What is the difference between a good lawyer, and a great lawyer.  There are many good lawyers practicing in current times.  But the really great ones are, in many cases, difficult to find.  Well, all clients want their phone calls to be returned in a timely manner, and a good lawyer will do that.  However, how many times will a lawyer call without being prompted, just to check in?  Well, Las Vegas lawyers know that that is just what a great lawyer does.

It is assumed that when one passes the Bar Exam, that one is aware of and knowledgeable about the laws and the justice system, and good lawyers do.  A great lawyer will take a look at those laws and apply them to each specific client.  They understand their client’s needs, they just simply understand their client.  And a good lawyer will keep up with the legal documentation, the work, the court dates while a great lawyer will do the same, however in a more thorough and again, thoughtful manner, always keeping the context of not only the case at hand in mind, but the business of each client they are working with and working for.

Efficiently working, and effectively getting the job done is the sign of one that is good at their work.  Those that work with the ethics that are above standards, are those that search for the ways in which that work will eventually be more valuable in the long run.  They go above and beyond what is required of them, in these instances clients are literally getting more than they have paid for.  Professionalism reigns in the world of law, and being treated with respect is one thing that everyone deserves.

Great lawyers not only respect, they get to know and to understand those whom they are working for.  They pay attention to the variety of people they meet and recognized diversity in thought, in modes of communication, and they attend to the individual.  So then, what is the difference between good and great, it is the human aspect.  This is true not only in the practice of law, but in every form of business and in every segment of daily life.

What is e-commerce?

Monday, July 27th, 2009

E-commerce stands for electronic marketing. Electronic commerce is buying and selling products over such things as the internet or other types of electronic or computer networks.

There are also several subsets of electronic commerce. There are things that exist entirely online. The services that these businesses provide are also entirely online. These can be things like web design services or search engine marketing services. Another example is accessing premium content on a website. This happens on such websites as the FOX News anchor Bill O’Reilly. He has people pay to access a certain part of his website.

Another type of e-commerce is in the form of online retailers. Any retailer that you can find in the mall, you can also probably find them online as well. But, the stores that are in the mall are not the ones just selling goods online. For example if you check out the website of Steve Barbarich, he sells hot tubs directly from his internet website.

Another term for retail business that is often used is e-tail, meaning electronic retail. This is referred to as business to consumer. This is what companies such as Amazon.com operates in. Generally, all online shopping is a form of electronic commerce.

E-commerce and the meaning have roots from before the days of the internet. The term was first used to describe commercial transaction facilitation using technology called Electronic Funds Transfer. Also when it became more popular to use credit cards to make purchases instead of checks or cash that was also considered a form of e-commerce.

E-commerce has come a long way from the public accepting the daily use of an ATM machine to using the internet to shop for all of your Christmas presents. The internet has done truly amazing things to our society and how we shop and communicate.

SEO, ORM, what does it mean?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

There are some abbreviations floating around that need to be a little bit deciphered. And I will do that for you. If you are in any type of business the abbreviations SEO and ORM should mean something to you and if they don’t, no worries this blog post will help you understand these abbreviations better.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Companies that offer search engine optimization services will make sure that a company will come up in a search engine for certain key words. For example, a key word for a Chicago web development company would be web development in Chicago or any variation of the kind of services that they provide at the company.

ORM stands for online reputation management. This means how you appear online. This can be for individuals or for businesses. It’s not enough just having an internet presence for your business. You also need to make sure that you are coming across how you want online. A business or an individual need to make sure that your company and the values that you are coming across to consumers and that they are receiving the information how you intended.

Both search engine optimization and online reputation management are things that you can hire a company to do for your business. Some companies have become experts in both because online reputation management is a rather new concept. Others make it part of their public relations practices. It’s all about how you appear to the public. It just so happens that the public has become so much vaster now than it once was. You have to make sure that you appear how you wish to a global audience.  Business is really becoming so global now that it is necessary to think about yourself and your business as a global entity.

Patio Garden grilling

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

As we become more urbanized as a nation the back yards get smaller and smaller; there is less property to plant gardens or make room for built in grills. In some cases, a small patio only has a dirt patch or strip surrounding the patio. There is a lot of potential for a small space. So, making a plan for the perfect garden, the perfect sized grill and fitting it all in a patio will help make the best use of a small space and a place where you really want to spend time.

People with small patios may not have the extra money to hire someone to landscape a garden or build in a grill. This doesn’t mean that people have to endure with less of a garden patio for entertaining purposes. When facing the fact that a person only has a limited amount to spend, take the time to research and read as well as look online for how other people managed to create a fabulous urban patios. Look at the plants they used, find out about the plants hardiness and what kind of light each plant needs. See what brands of built in grill they used and what size fit in the best for the amount of cooking they needed to do. This seems simple enough, and it is because the research you do is exactly what a designer or contractor will do.

For the perfect garden patio design, make sure that the arranging of the space all comes together for a nice look and easy of use. For instance, taller plants or shrubs at the back is preferable. Make the spot where the built in grill is well ventilated and the furthest away from the house. Oh, the final touch will be a potted plant here and there, maybe a standing fountain and a patio furniture that will not take up much room. Once the garden is established and the grill is in place only happiness can be the result, plus knowing it was all done by you.

Get into a hot tub, hey!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

What is it about a hot tub? They evoke relaxation and a kind of luxury that normal folks can only seem to get when they go on vacation. And normally it’s the gross hot tub at the Super 8 motel, but hey I’ll take a little bit of luxury wherever I can get it.

Saturday Night Live has been making fun of the hot tub and the people who love them for almost 20 years now. Remember when Eddie Murphy used to impersonate James Brown on his talk show that took place in a hot tub? That is super classic. “It’s too hot in the hot tub!”

And again later with Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch as the hot tubing couple who like to call each other “lova.”

Well now more people than ever are having that same type of luxury in their own homes.

Hot tubs are a great way to relax, especially in this hectic world we live in where there is barely enough time to think about what to eat for dinner.

Some people who live in states where it is acceptable to have a pool in their back yard choose to make a hot tub part of their pool when they remodel. But, most people in the United States don’t have that kind of luck. So they have to turn to above ground hot tubs and Jacuzzis. But finding one that you like can be difficult, especially if you are looking online.

Steve Barbarich ran into this problem a while back. He was in the market for a portable spa Jacuzzi and was looking into retailers online. Too bad none of them had any sort of customer service standards. So Steve decided he would start his own website to fill the void of what he thought was poor customer service and it has worked out fairly well so far.

No matter what you decide, a hot tub is a worthy investment!

Wind Catchers

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The Wind Catchers in Dubai represent the traditional Persian architectural design device that created natural ventilation in buildings throughout previous centuries. The original design and idea is not accredited to a single individual, though they have been paramount to the culture’s architectural history. They are not only found in Dubai, but also in Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as throughout the Middle East. Tourists visiting the city, whether they’re there for business or pleasure will have ample opportunity to view this unique building aspect. It’s even possible they are part of the design of some business hotels Dubai.

While the climate is consistently dry, temperatures vary throughout the day and also throughout the seasons. Even a single day’s temperature can range from extremely hot to extremely cold. For this reason, most of the buildings are made from very dense ceramics and have strong insulation. This protects the interior from all of the extremes. They also include small windows that do not face the sun, which restricts the heat penetration from the desert sky.

By design, the wind catcher has at its top several directional ports. The purpose of this is that all but one can be closed, leaving open the one that is facing directly away from the incoming wind. By doing this, the air will be drawn upwards, creating the Coanda effect. This creates a significant ventilation effect, and helps to maintain temperature control. This design is so effective that it has been used throughout the centuries and the culture has consistently relied on it. They can be built to create such frigid temperatures that they have also been used to store water supplies at a near freezing level to last through the hot summer months. A small wind catcher is called a shish-khan and is also a main aspect of Persian architecture. These serve for simple ventilation devices and are seen on the tops of many urban buildings.

Dubai Festival

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre is aimed toward the recognition of young talent and supporting the development and education of young people who are involved in the performing arts. Last year’s festival took place under the patronage of Sheikh Majed and included a final evening gala celebrating the exceptional performers, directors and playwrights. Tourists who visit the UAE and stay in one of the five star hotels Dubai often seek out these fabulous cultural activities. Festivals such as this provide an excellent opportunity to experience the contemporary social and cultural lifestyle of the UAE.

The ten day festival had the dual purpose of launching the UAE’s young talent pool and also serving as an exceptional summer entertainment event for audiences. It is recognized as one of the premiere platforms for young practitioners to hone their skills and receive acknowledgment for their efforts at the regional and national level. This also prepares them for the highly competitive aspect of the professional theatre industry, in which they will be working. The performing arts plays an essential role in the lifestyle and cultural basis of the AUE and celebrating the up and comers in the field is paramount. The festival has become a central component of raising the profile of performing arts in the country.

Illustrado Women of Substance

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

A Dubai beach resort can really be all things to all people, and the guests here will know the taste of first-class luxury in a first-class setting.  Dubai city, with its stunning natural surroundings and fascinating urban energy, is growing into a city that has a special place in the heart of locals, and also among the growing community of internationals here.  There is a wealth of culinary delights, glorious shopping malls, and cultural events to keep the whole family fascinated and entertained.  There is a strong multi-cultural character to the city, with pockets of communities that are becoming a rich part of the local scene.

The Filipino community has long held a presence here, and so it should be no surprise that a world-class magazine like Illustrado would make a home here.  Founded with the intention of uplifting the morale and public image of Filipino women in the gulf, this glossy combines high production values with a grass roots sensibility that appeals to its reader base.  The result is a magazine that is not only empowering but also refreshingly free of the usual gossip and materialism that define similar enterprises.  The editorial staff here is uncompromising in its vision to presenting real issues to real women.  Its staff is composed of writers and visual artists based in the UAE, the Phillipines, Southeast Asia, ant the United States.

Every year Illustrado holds an event to honor some of the most accomplished women in the Filipino community in the UAE.  Called the Illustrado Women of Substance Awards, this event typicially honors a half-dozen women who have achieved prominence in their fields over the past year.  Last year’s event was stunning, and attracted local and international press.  Lalaine Chu-Benitez, Illustrado’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, is quick to point out that this is an award that goes to real women who have made real contributions to society, and is not simply an award for popularity.  Awards went to Filipina chemist Engr. Mary Jane Alvero Al Mahdi, Lilian Vargas, senior manager of Dubai City Duty-Free, Gulf Today Senior Reporter and UAE Filipino Pres Club President Mariecar Jara-Puyod, entrepreneur and creator of Filipino snack company Nanay Tuneng, Isabelita Sabado-Warren, nurse Juliet Solas, and the pianist-singer-writer and model Clarita de Quiroz Craig.  All of these women were honored for their exceptional contributions and on-going commitment to raising the profile of Flilipino women here.

Are you scared of public speaking? Overcome your fear

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Phobias are what people are afraid. There are common ones like spiders, snakes, death. And one of the most common phobias is the fear of public speaking . Why is our society so afraid of being tongue-tied in public?

Phobias grow from a normal fear based on reality and logic to an overwhelmingly irrational avoidance of a harmless situation.

Perhaps you are now afraid of public speaking because in 7th grade you flubbed on a speech you were giving to the class about Animal Farm. And that experience or something like it could very well be the reason a person fears public speaking as an adult. Perhaps they just require more leadership training.

People generally fear they will be judged when they step out into the public eye, and if a person fumbles over their words they may be seen as uneducated on the topic they are presenting on. This in turn, causes anxiety and then a fear of public speaking.

Public speaking is one of the nine most common phobias. Others include: bugs, mice, snakes , rats, bats, heights, water, public transportation, storms, closed spaces, tunnels, bridges and death.

Looking at the list, that’s some pretty scary stuff, it’s interesting that public speaking is also one of them. It seems relatively harmless compared to heights and snakes.

Unfortunately the only way to get rid of a phobia for good is to confront it, because public speaking really is an irrational fear. Practicing speaking in public may be easier said than done. For those who are in occupations where public speaking is a daily task, it most likely comes more natural to them. Start by speaking in front of groups of friends and neighbors, you will gradually work up to strangers. Practice will make perfect if public speaking haunts you. All it takes is a little preparation and a lot of bravery! And perhaps even some born with it leadership skills.

Famous Locksmiths

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Locks have been around for 4,000 years, since the Assyrians first used a primitive form of pin lock. Over the millenia, a number of locksmiths have earned fame for innovations and improvements in lock mechanisms. While the ancient inventors and locksmiths are lost in time, some of the innovators of the last 800 years are documented in lock history.

While many of the famous locksmiths in recent years are American, ancient locksmiths were found throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. One of the earliest surving documents about locks is the 1309 description of a combination lock. Written by Al-Jazari it is believed to be the first working combination lock.

In more recent times, a double-acting tumbler lock was patented in 1778 by Robert Barrion. It is considered the first modern lock improvement that increased lock security. In 1784 the first safety lock was patented by Joseph Bramah. This lock was believed to be unpickable for almost 70 years. It was finally proved pickable by A.C. Hobbs, though it took him over fifty hours to do so.

Jeremiah Chubb revolutionized locks by creating a detector lock in 1818. This was the first lock that couldn’t be opened by a skeleton key and Chubb earned a prize from the government who had long sought such a device.

One of the most successful locksmiths was James Sargeant. In addition to designing the first key-changeable combination lock that actually worked (in 1857), he patented a time lock mechanism in 1873 that became the prototype for many bank vault locks.

Other famous locksmiths include Samuel Segal with the first jimmy proof lock and Harry Soref who patented a padlock made of laminated steel in 1924. Then there are Linus Yale, Sr., and Linus Yale, Jr. who improved pin tumbler and combination locks.

Today there are locks for door, windows, safes, vault, and various types of property. Child safety locks, bicycle locks, and even book locks can be found in many homes. Electronic locks have been developed that use keypads, key cards or biometric readers to activate a locking mechanism for higher security. All of these are built upon the work of locksmiths from earlier times.

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

The city of Newcastle is located in northeastern England.  It lies on the north bank of the River Tyne.  Its sister city of Gateshead lies on the south bank of the Tyne.

Newcastle is heavily influenced by the past.  It was a center for industry – coal, steel and shipbuilding.   These have died out over the past decades and the city has developed in to a modern service oriented center.   The attraction for visitors is the mix of the modern and the historical.

Newcastle is famous for its outstanding shopping and excellent nightlife. It also has modern healthcare facilities including the Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle General Hospital, Newcastle cosmetic surgery, and Freeman Hospital.  The city also offers much in the way of beautiful architecture, an ancient castle; and a unique quayside with waterfront bars and galleries.  It also has a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafés.

The city has many festivals and events throughout the year and so check what is happening before you head on your trip.  Newcastle makes an excellent base for exploring Northumbria, and makes a nice stop off point on journeys from the south to Scotland.

Installing a New Kitchen

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Building a new kitchen requires some pre planning. Look around at magazines, books, TV shows and on the Web to find out what your options are and what interests you. You may also want to visit a UK kitchens store or store in your own country.

The first step is to assess what you need. This is also the time to determine whether you should build a new kitchen or remodel your old one. There are advantages to both. A big influence on this will be your budget. Brainstorm on what you want in your kitchen, decide what is necessary and start a wish list too. Now look at the money you wish to spend. Its very easy for these projects to run over budget. Additional costs are unavoidable however you should attempt to control them.

Before you begin work again consider the worth of hiring one of the North East Kitchen Companies. A professional can really help to simplify everything including the cost.

You are now at the stage when you can begin your design. Look at some kitchen design books to get ideas and to avoid problems with your design. This is also a good time to assess the size of your kitchen so that you can maximize its potential. Also look at the shape of your kitchen as this can greatly influence your design.

Other considerations include whether you will have an eat-in kitchen. This can be informal using the counter top, or building a breakfast nook or having the traditional kitchen table. If you have the space a kitchen island can expand your counter top area as well as extra storage areas and the possibility of add an extra sink, dishwasher etc.

Truck accessories are a great way to make a vehicle a personal statement. There are plenty of ways to make this happen, and many different accessories to use. Yet, perhaps the most important part of the process is having the right pieces for your truck. I regularly check out my Chevrolet Silverado’s owner’s manual, which you can find at the website for any information I need.

For my work truck, I use ladder racks as a must have accessory. You just have to have it to provide yourself with safe storage as needed. Then again, I like to give a bit of personalization to the truck too. To do this, like to use chrome accessories. Chrome just speaks to me and it looks great against the dark blue truck I have.

It gives you the tools you need, of course, but it also gives the truck some character and personality. There are plenty of accessories to choose from today, too. You’ll find a wide range of sizes and styles. Truck accessories need to be selected with care, so that each one fills your needs and gives off that personal charm. I’ll continue to update my truck with accessories each year.

Customer Complaint Handling

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Two things determine customer dissatisfaction. The customer can tell you and make a complaint or they can stop being a customer and find a new provider. We all have experience of bad customer service and choose to deal with it by telling the company just what the problem is….or by finding a new source for the product or service. When customers leave it is known as customer turnover.

High levels of customer service can give a major competitive advantage in fields where pricing or technology are equal. This advantage is gained by listening to customer complaints and then reacting to them.

Listening and responding are important but often not enough. The key is to make process improvements so that these types of situations are eliminated in the future. Within the discipline of quality management this is known as continuous improvement.

Therefore complaints should be collected and identified at all levels of the organization. This is known as customer complaint tracking. Complaints should not be viewed in a negative way but rather as an opportunity to develop better products and services. Finding the root cause of the complaint and fixing it improves the quality levels of your organization. There are complaint handling software packages available that can handle this for your organization.

Maximize Your Team’s Strength Via Management Training

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Management training is designed to help you to build the skills that can help you manage and work with people more effectively.  Some of the skills that you will develop as part of management training includes team development, motivation, coaching, communication skills, delegation, performance management and time management skills.

Management is concerned with how you get work done both individually and through the others in your team.  It is essential that you understand your strengths and the areas in which you can improve.    You should also understand your management style and can you adapt it to meet the needs of individual team members.

As a manager do you understand you role and responsibilities?  Do you motivate and enable your employees to succeed?  Are your coaching skills improving job performance and satisfaction?  Can you communicate more effectively throughout the organization?

Self-assessment can help you determine your current management skill set. Define your role within the organization in relation to your own leaders, peers and employees.  Understand the environment in which you work and its influence on you and your team.

Study how you delegate and document findings.  Look at your communication style and investigate the best communication strategies for your team.  Look for causes of job dissatisfaction.

As a manager you will influence others.  What tools do you use to gain employee commitment? Do you understand how to improve performance effectiveness?  Are your employees self-reliant or do they need direction?

Many of the skills learned during management training can directly increase productivity and motivation.  The overall goal of management training is to understand your strengths and weaknesses so that you can develop the competencies so that you can ultimately maximize your team’s performance.

Sales Training in North Dakota Leads to Career Growth

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

I need to take a sales training in North Dakota class and I want to really use the information that I gain to further my career. In fact, one of the main reasons that I’m taking this course is to keep my job secure and going forward.

I have a friend in another branch of the same company and he is taking sales training Minneapolis to make sure he gets all of the sales that he can. We are both wanting to be promoted to management so we are considering taking leadership training in North Dakota and Minneapolis.

I don’t want to be stagnant in my life. I always want to be moving forward and getting professional development is a sure-fire way to ensure this.

Seminars for Training Improve Skills

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Improving your skills without going back to college can be difficult. Many people already have their Master’s but they long for periodic refreshers and skill updates. One way to do this is through seminars for training. Many different types are offered. For instance, there is a sales process improvement course and a management leadership training course. You could take both if you felt ambitious. They prove to be very rewarding for your professional life and they even make an impact in personal lives as well.
