Standard Motor Products Inc. said Wednesday it has agreed to acquire a small wire and cable company in the U.K. The auto parts manufacturer did not disclose the name of the company or terms of the agreement.
Its engine management division makes and distributes wires and cables, according to its Web site. Standard’s Intermotor business is based in the U.K.
The winter holiday season brings with it many feelings of joy. In the business world nothing brings as much joy as the elusive holiday bonus. This is the time of year where companies, large and small, show their appreciation to their empoloyees with some sort of gift. Bonuses range from useless nutcrackers to cash to concert tickets. With the Super Bowl always around the corner, some very lucky, or derserving employees will even get football tickets. The christmas bonus always makes me think of the Chevy Chase film, Christmas Vacation. Tribune Company announced today that Dennis FitzSimons will step down as chairman and chief executive officer immediately after the company completes its going-private transaction. FitzSimons will leave the company at the end of the year.
Coca-Cola announced Thursday that Chief Executive Neville Isdell will step down from his post effective July 1, 2008. Isdell will be succeeded by his longtime friend and second-in-command Muhtar Kent. Isdell will remain chairman until April 2009.
